Dana Camps is the Head of Marketing at bound4blue – a scale-up that brings sails back to ships. In this interview, she shares the ingenious idea behind bound4blue and how this sustainable venture benefits from being a part of the EIC Scaling Club’s Renewable Energies cohort.
bound4blue offers a wind-powered propulsion system (eSAIL®) that harnesses the power of the wind to reduce fuel costs and emissions for all ships, from ferries to tankers. It's easy to install and requires low maintenance, making it the most cost-efficient wind propulsion technology available.
The company works mainly with ship owners and other stakeholders who want to make their fleet more sustainable and reduce fuel consumption. This technology not only helps maritime shipping companies comply with regulations, but also to make more profits. The best news for ship owners? bound4blue’s technology gives a payback period of less than three years, which makes it stand out among other fuel-saving solutions.
In this video, Dana tells us how bound4blue entered the EIC Scaling Club after receiving a grant from the EIC Accelerator. She highlights the valuable networking and learning opportunities offered by the Club and shares her success in the Ignition Forum’s pitching event.
