EIC Scaling Club market groups – get to know the movers and shakers of Europe’s tech scene
Each group represents a high-potential area where Europe and its bright minds can not only contribute but lead globally. EIC Scaling Club members are poised to drive innovation in these sectors, as well as contribute to achieving the EU's energy, security, and technological ambitions. More than just a category, each market group is a nexus of companies, mentors, stakeholders, investors, and peers all connected through EIC Scaling Club with the goal of helping at least 20% of the scale-ups reach 'unicorn' status.
That said, while the Club seeks to facilitate and accelerate their growth, its 120 members representing 26 countries from every corner of Europe, already have an impressive track record of:
- €3.56B total raised – that’s €30.16M on average per company, with the median being €17.2M
- 683 active investors backing companies
- And 7,721 total employees, with 78 of the companies featuring women in executive positions
Interestingly:
- The groups who have raised the most are Smart Mobility, Clean Fuels & Hydrogen, and Batteries & Energy storage with €530.56M, €500.78M, and €430.90M, respectively. The New Space group comes in a very close fourth, with €430.87M
- Nearly every company (11 out of 12) in the Cardiovascular Therapies group has at least one woman in executive positions. Women are least represented in the Digital Security & Trust and Renewable Energies groups, with only 4 companies in each group having at least one woman executive
- There are three groups with over 1,000 employees between the members, namely, New Space, Renewable Energies, and Smart Mobility. Conversely, the New Biotech Platforms group stands as an outlier, with only 307 employees across the 12 group members
Helping these companies bring their ambitions to life is an equally impressive lineup of 300 Stakeholder Members from 30+ countries representing investment funds (63.53%), corporates (24.31%), governments & non-profits (9.41%), as well as service providers (2.75%). Altogether, these Stakeholders boast contributions to investments of €71B across 17,371 investments, and, with 54,699 related co-investors, unlock an incredibly wide and invaluable network for Club members.
