10Market_Roadmaps

Within the Scaling Club, each of its 120 members is part of one of 10 pre-defined market sector groups, with a dozen companies per group. Each group represents a high-potential area where Europe and its bright minds can not only contribute but lead globally. EIC Scaling Club members are poised to drive innovation in these sectors, and in doing so contribute to the EU's energy, security, and technological ambitions.

The Club has put together Market Roadmaps for each sector to help professionals – especially entrepreneurs – grasp meaningful insights about the state of industry to build their scaling strategy.

Market Roadmaps are now available for all 10 groups:

The reports are put together through multiple interactions with EIC Scaling Club stakeholder members, including scaleup companies, investors, corporates, and public institutions representatives, providing a snapshot of the stakeholder members’ vision and insights on the state of the respective market in Europe.

The process includes independent research, expert interviews, collaborative workshops, and qualitative surveys.

EIC Scaling Club market groups – Industry priorities, challenges, competition, and more

In the Club, each market group is a nexus of companies, mentors, investors, and peers, all connected through the EIC Scaling Club with the goal of helping at least 20% of the scale-ups reach 'unicorn' status.

The Market Roadmaps offer a holistic perspective from all the stakeholders on the challenges, target markets, priorities, market risks, market barriers, and other obstacles Club members are facing on the path to building unicorns in their particular sector.

While the reports focus on individual sectors, there are some common trends that can be observed between the industries:

  • In almost all market groups, well-funded US companies and scale-ups are identified as the biggest competitive threats
  • Access to financing is cited as a major challenge by every group
  • Policy & regulations issues are identified as critical market barriers to scale across most sectors
  • Numerous market groups also face major hurdles in hiring, citing lack of skilled candidates and generally low numbers of candidates as significant issues in their industry
  • For companies in most market groups, entering strategic partnerships is a top priority

For more insights and to understand the state of each market, we invite you to explore the respective Market Roadmap. They are filled with hard data, expert comments, and informative details that will serve to shed light on the current market state, as well as help guide entrepreneurs in making informed decisions.
