EIC Scaling Club has released a new market roadmap for the Next-Gen Computing sector.
Europe aims to play a major role in powering the next generation of cloud and edge computing technologies, as well as deploying these technologies for an interconnected industry. Achieving this ambition rests in part on the shoulders of the region's leading innovators and their ability to scale their solutions internationally.
The new market roadmap highlights both the opportunities and challenges facing European companies in this rapidly evolving sector. In it, EIC Scaling Club members and stakeholders have shared their insights on the trajectory of the Next-Gen Computing sector:
- Expect a focus on specialized applications, beyond mere technological prowess
- Sales within the industry will remain top but manufacturing and automotive overtake sales to research
- Sales across Europe and especially the US / North America will prevail as China drops to the bottom of the list
- Direct sales will still dominate, yet indirect sales will become increasingly relevant
- Main competitors will be well-funded American companies and internal solutions from customers
- And more
At the end of the day, raising funding remains the top challenge – “Without access to funding all other challenges have no meaning. Tech advancements are possible only with funding,” notes Kathy Willing, Chief Financial Officer at Quix Quantum. Still, venture capital is expected to remain the main source of funding.
The Next-Gen Computing sector in Europe shows significant promise. By focusing on specialized applications, strategic expansion, and addressing key market needs, European companies can solidify their position in this crucial and rapidly evolving industry.
