WELCOME SPEECH:

Jean-David Malo

Director (European Innovation Council / EISMEA)

Jean-David Malo became Head of Unit in charge of regional aspects in DG R&I (2006-2010) and of the unit (2011-2013) in charge of increasing private finance and closing market gaps by expanding existing EU innovative financial instruments (see RSFF) and by developing new ones in the fields of debt (including guarantees) and equity financing (InnovFin). Horizon 2020SMEs was also addressed by the unit (i.e. EUROSTARS II, SME Instrument and the Fast Track to Innovation). Director for Open Innovation and Open Science in 2017, he designed and expanded initiatives such as the VentureEU Initiative and the RDI dimension under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) among other things. In 2019 following the European Council’s request to set up the European Innovation Council (EIC), he became Director of the EIC Task Force. He will also be participating in the Fireside Chats.

Haris Lambropoulos

President of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments SA (HDBI, ex TANEO)

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics (Ph.D. econ. LSE). He is elected faculty member (Assistant Professor with tenure) at the University of Patras. He is Counsellor elected (member of the Board of Directors) of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), actively participating in a variety of activities to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and business and human resources development. Also, he is President of the Institute of Research & Studies of the Union of Hellenic Chambers (UHC), Chief Counsel, Mentor and Coach of The Athens Startup Business Incubator (THEA), Secretary General of ICC (Hellas), Member of the Attica Regional Research & Innovation Council, Member of the Board of Directors of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development etc.

He has acted as Principal Consultant of the World Bank; Adviser to the Ministers of -Education, -Tourism Development and -Health & Social Solidarity, as well as, served as top executive, member of the Board of Directors and advisor in various companies, funds, organisations, and foundations in the private and the public sector in Greece and abroad. Ηe has participated in official missions abroad as well as in various committees on a national, European, and international level; recipient of various distinctions and scholarships, having extensive voluntary social work and active involvement in public affairs.

Ernestos Panayiotou

General Manager Transformation, Strategy & International Activities - National Bank of Greece

Ernestos Panayiotou is General Manager of Transformation, Strategy and International Activities and member of the Executive Committee of the National Bank of Greece (NBG) Group. He leads the Group’s business strategy – including sustainability and partnerships –, the implementation of the Bank’s Transformation Program, and the oversight of the NBG’s international subsidiaries.

Before rejoining NBG in 2019, he was Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he worked during the periods 2001-2005 and 2012-2018. At McKinsey, he focused on serving financial institutions in Greece, Cyprus, the USA and the Middle East on strategy, transformation and risk management topics. During the period 2006-2011, he worked for the NBG Group as strategy advisor.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from the University of Oxford and a Master in Public Administration & International Development from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Antigoni Lymperopoulou

CEO of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments SA (HDBI, ex TANEO)

Antigoni Lymperopoulou is a seasoned Investments professional. Having started her career working for the Hellenic Ministry of Finance from 1999 to 2001, she moved on to work for HDBI (previously TANEO). Since July 2020, she is appointed as Chief Executive Officer of HDBI. She has been actively involved with the development of the organization’s as well as the industry’s operations and has served as an Investment Manager since 2001. Parallel to her tasks with the HDBI, she has served as an advisor to the European Commission for subjects related to her field of knowledge for a number of years (Venture Capital, Private Equity, Access to Risk Finance etc) and has actively participated in the formation of pan European collaborations, such as the Scale-Up Initiative.

She holds an i-MBA and MSc in Decision Sciences, as well as a BSc in Statistics and Economy, all awarded by the Athens University of Economy and Business. She is an Accredited Investment Manager by the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments and also holds the equivalent accreditation (Level C) by the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission (HCMC).

Chairman of EVFIN (European Venture Fund Investors Network) (2022-2023) and currently Vice Chairman (since 2023)

Laurent Samama

Managing Partner & Impact Officer - Jolt Capital

Laurent Samama has experience across large corporations and dynamic start-ups. His experience as a senior manager includes serving as VP Business Development with Orange, Country Manager for France with both NEC and Nokia, and also as Global Business Unit Manager with Nokia. Laurent has also held executive positions with smaller technology companies (DxO Labs, Coronis Systems, Varioptic) where he experienced all stages from growth to exit, including equity raising, technology development, commercial expansion and trade sale. He graduated from Telecom Paris Tech and won the French Digital Technology Manager award in 1998. Laurent is currently a board member of Alpha MOS, Boydsense, Virta, and BC Platforms.

Daria Saharova

Founding Partner World Fund

Daria Saharova, born in Riga, is a founding partner of the World Fund. She has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and investor and was awarded the German Startup Award as the best investor by the German Startups Association in 2020. Daria is an expert advisor to the European Commission and maintains a close relationship with international industry thought leaders as co-founder of the think tank 1E9 Denkfabrik.

Svilen Rangelov

Co-Founder and CEO – Dronamics

In 2014, Svilen co-founded Dronamics with his brother Konstantin, an aerospace engineer, with a mission to leverage advances in autonomy, aeronautics and composite materials, in order to democratize air freight and enable same day shipping to remote and underserved areas. A report by the World Bank highlighting that improving logistics has a greater effect on trade than tariff cuts and other similar policies, inspired Svilen to develop Dronamics as a solution that will change how the world moves goods.

Svilen and Konstantin are leading a fast growing team of world-class experts in aviation, logistics and engineering, and their pioneering work has won them numerous international awards and industry recognition. Svilen is an Economics graduate from Davidson College, USA; has been appointed European Innovation Council ambassador in March 2024, and is an Endeavor Entrepreneur alongside his brother Konstantin.

Falk boasts three decades of investment banking and tech industry expertise. Falk founded Cartagena Capital, leading it for 16 years before merging it with Bryan, Garnier & Co in 2016. He initially started in investment banking in the late '90s, leading the Continental European operations of Durlacher, an LSE-listed investment bank later acquired by Lazard. His early career also included management and consulting roles at Nokia, Gartner Group, and McGraw Hill. Falk holds an MBA from California State University and a BA in Management & Technology (Mechanical Engineering) from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
